Smyly pitching against the Dodgers.
What could possibly go wrong?
I know it's nice to have a lefty in the rotation, but wouldn't that really require that the lefty was actually pitching well? Smyly had a 5.21 ERA in August. Touki had a 2.86 ERA in August. I think it was 4 starts each so far. So which guy should have gone to the pen?

Oh well, we'll have Will Smith in the pen to cover for Smyly.

To save the bullpen, the Dodgers used Justin Turner to pitch the 9th today trailing only 5-0.

Guess having a lefty in the rotation takes precedence over who is pitching well this month Though Smyly was going through a good run earlier in the season. Is that a consideration ? Hell, for me, I don't know, - I can't pick Snitker's baseball brain But if some reporter was doing their job thoroughly that would be a good question for their buddy Snit right? I cannot see Snit being challenged on it though heck they will not challenge the Will Smith and Tomlin thing. But we are winning and that is good. Its been a good August, time to face the monsters of So Cal.

I still don't totally trust Touki, but he's been getting it done his last 4 or 5 outings and Smyly simply hasn't been. Oh well.

I had pretty much given up on him but he deserves credit for the improvement. A good number of people saw him as another nice arm with talent that could not put it together as a MLB pitcher He did not quit and he has shown mental toughness for not quitting I never thought he would be back he was struggling some in the minors for a time but he got another chance and he just might save his career.

Oh well, we'll have Will Smith in the pen to cover for Smyly. Smyly actually throws a better meatball than Smith, so that's probably what gives him the edge.
