Wonder if there is a way to look up the record when recording 2 or more home runs and 1 or less

Sadly this is the kind of games we can expect to see come playoff time. Top pitchers don't give up 2, 3, 4 or 5 HRs per game and we are like a one legged man in an ass kicking contest when we try to play the game any other way. If our manager would keep all of our players involved, it would really help. It's beyond him to do that. He just can't do it.

Welp... some wanted us to go for it and give up whatever from the minors to do it.
This is us going for it against the type of teams we will see in the playoffs.
Funny thing is we were a .500 team before all this so we have been close to 1st place right now anyway.
Funny though one in particular who wanted us to go for it and give up whatever hasn't seemed to be any happier even though we've gotten to 10 over..

Shrug.

When's the last time Adrianza had an at-bat? Dansby could probably use a day off. Why not start him and Rosario tomorrow? Guys need to play and guys need a day off now and then. It ain't rocket science.

I don't understand the point. We didn't give up anything of real value but Wilson. Winning another division and getting an up close look at the outfielders we acquired is worth what we gave up. It's made the season interesting if nothing else.

I don't understand the point. We didn't give up anything of real value but Wilson. Winning another division and getting an up close look at the outfielders we acquired is worth what we gave up. It's made the season interesting if nothing else. I completely disagree. We gave up Ball and Jackson. It could be that neither one make it in the big leagues, but there's a lot of potential there with both of them. And there's a lot of potential with Wilson too. So it's been cool to go on this hot streak and beat up on bad teams, but as I argued at the trade deadline what's the end result really going to be? The end result was that we're better than the Mutts and Faillies. And we saw a perfect example tonight of where that's going to get us. So I would have to ask what's the point of doing that? To short term appease casual fans, I would think.
It could end up being that when it's all said and done none of the players we gave up even make it in the big leagues. But it is an unknown, so we can't say right now that we didn't give up anything. When you look at how weak the catchers position is around baseball, it won't take much for Jackson to make it and be just even an average MLB catcher. Look at what we have in Vogt. Jackson can do that right now and he's only had 100 big league ABs. Once he gets the big leagues figured out there's no telling. And d'Arnaud does not excite me, I think people overrate him because he did have a great year in the very shortened 2020 season. Even if Jackson just becomes average MLB catcher it means we gave up something that hurt, at a position that is a big weakness for us. The fallback is to say well we have Langeliers coming, but there's no guarantees there either.

When's the last time Adrianza had an at-bat? Dansby could probably use a day off. Why not start him and Rosario tomorrow? Guys need to play and guys need a day off now and then. It ain't rocket science. From earlier in this tread:
"This thing of running your starters out there every single day, and then leaving them in blowout games until the 8th or 9th inning.......and getting your bench guys no at bats is just plain retarded. Eventually you're going to have to rely on those bench guys to have really important pinch hitting at bats late in close games that mean a lot. You look at Adrianza, he's actually been a good role player and kept his OPS in the mid and upper 700's all year, but now he's had 3 at bats in the last 16 days. For the month of August he's had 13 at bats. He got one hit. His slashes for the month are .077/.200/.077/.277. So what would you expect to happen when you get a guy that few at bats? How small does your brain have to be to not realize you're hurting all the players on your team by managing this way. And then we may ask Adrianza to come up tonight with the tying run in scoring position in the bottom ninth and two outs. And pray that somehow he can get a hit. No player could thrive under those circumstances. Give Freddie Freeman 3 at bats in 16 days or 13 on an entire month, and let's see what kind of results you get. It's just plain stupid. And obvious you can't do that."
"And to further make the point about Adrianza here's his slashes for June and July:
June .289/.426/.421/.847 July .320/.414/.520/.934
That was with just 38 ABs in June and 25 in July, but the guy was producing still, and then you completely pull the rug out from underneath him.
We have a frigging idiot for a manager. He does everything he can to sabotage our success, but luckily we have talented players who are usually able to overcome the idiocy. "

Considering where we were a month ago, being better than the Muts and Faillies is all right by me. Its not like we gave up that much anyway. We did not empty out the top end of the system. And we did get a good reliever who is under control for two yrs in Rich Rod, now if the powers that be would use him correctly but that is another issue. We gave up one player whom I think has value maybe in Bryse Wilson and he was an extra arm here anyway, I wish him well If all we do is win the division after all that has gone on this yr, I will take it. I guess I can handle a loss to SF better than that team in pinstripes and those were both winnable games anyway. Add - Bryce Ball is still struggling in A+ ball at last check and as for your man Jackson, other than 3 big shots not doing much in Miami. I find them expendable to save even one season even it its just this year.

Gwinnett loses 2-1. The game was 0-0 going into the 9th, in the top of the inning Camargo singled in a run to make it 1-0, then with two outs in the bottom of the 9th a runner on Jacob Webb gave up a two run walk off homer.
Snikter to his confidants tonight--"See, Ricardo Rodriguez gave a up a home run, Webb gives up a walk off home run, people are on me to change closers and we just can't have relievers in here giving up home runs like that."

We win the division and then get bulldozed in the first round, that's a "saved" season?
I know you're the king of giving up on players, but you can't give up on Ball or Jackson. Well a normal person can't. There's way too much potential and only time will tell. And that time period is not within the next week or the next month.
I'm not even complaining about the moves we made, my whole point is no one can close the book on those deals. not for many more years, and several people here are trying to do that already.

That Logan Webb is pretty dam good, he has a future in front of him health permitting
And he worked 7 solid tonight. This is on the offense that got beat by good SF pitching fair and square.
I still do not see anyone other than the LAD getting to the WS for some time, its what it is. Would like it to be different but they have too much talent - I would not be surprised to see them get to 7 or 8 WS for this decade, its in part the business of how this game works so just making a playoff run is a great accomplishment in the NL as it is now

If we win the division and have a first round exit, I am good with that considering all that has gone on and I would call that a saved season I hope we at least compete in the first round but a division title is a good season. Some cities would kill for a division title - just ask Mariners or Orioles fans - we really do have it good for the most part I am not pulling any punches, I want to win now and this has been a good run I will not lose sleep over a struggling A ball prospect to make the team better and as for Jackson well, I am not the only non believer. Its not like he is lights out down in Miami Most fans want to win now and will gladly sacrifice a guy like Ball who is struggling in A+ ball for immediate help to compete now and if he does develop 3 yrs from now more power to him. I do not wish Ball any ill will
