Well, you certainly can't say that the gnats aren't trying, can you?

Well, you certainly can't say that the gnats aren't trying, can you? I have a feeling they'll try as hard as they have to to keep him.
I just read he's turning down that offer, but I'd bet they end up with him whatever it takes.
I'd say this should also squash anyone's dream that we might be the ones to sign him.

Well, their offer takes him through his age 36 season at $30 million per, more or less. I'd say that's very fair, but hey, if you can get more, go for it! I mean, he's obviously very good, but he has also just had a career year that he may never duplicate.

I never had any illusions about us signing him the same way I never had any illusions of us signing the Douche or Kimbrel.

I just don't see high-end free agents as the way to go, especially these days with so many guys making such big splashes at early ages (Acuña, GAPOZ, Soto, Alonso, Tatis, Bichette, Vlad Jr. to name a few). Guys seem to come up more ready to play than they ever have, so why blow your budget on a $30 million per year guy? I suppose it makes sense in some cases, but for the most part, I don't see it.

Long term deals for the youngins. Short term for the vets. Cheap first couple round signings and allocate big bucks to back end of the draft and high schoolers with high upside. Without international spending we have to take risks. Reminder that Rendon was originally drafted by the braves before college.

Dang...Classless Dick was kind of an ace in the hole. You could basically count on him to do one or two insanely stupid moves every game. We're gonna miss him.

Nothing short of the Gnats scoring 12 runs in the first inning is going to appease me for now. A Gnats sweep would help, it’s just slower than the 12 run thing.

Good thing we let Anibal Sanchez go. He gave up one hit tonight in 7 and 2/3rds. Horrible performance.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! One hit for the Cardinals tonight. Lame ass fairies. I hope they don't score a run in the entire series.
