Nats, Phillies, and Mets all win tonight. It feels nice being on top of the best division in baseball, but they're not making it easy on us.

So far the black teams have 13 wins and white teams have 17 wins. I guess that's to be expected since home teams have a better chance of winning. The whites look ridiculous, like a giant tube sock.

Justin Verlander - kudos for a third career no hitter
Still going strong at 36, 17-5, 2.56 now with 221 career wins & another chance to get to the series
He should get to 250 with ease, maybe in the high 200's assuming how long he lasts could he be in the 300 club?
True HOF pitcher for sure

True HOF pitcher for sure No doubt, he’s a dying breed. How many guys like him are out there? A guy guaranteed to throw 200+ innings, 200+ strike outs, 30+ starts a year, can hit 95+ for a full 9 innings, and can throw 120+ pitches and be good to go 5 days later? Scherzer is one, I know that, but I can’t think of another.

Scherzer is one, I know that, but I can’t think of another. I was doing a little research earlier today and in the past few yrs , since 2016, the number of pitchers who are logging 200 innings are getting fewer and fewer The opener concept (I hate it as you might imagine) is not helping, last year only 15 guys logged 200 IP As recently as 2015, 28 guys logged 200 IP. Earlier in the decade we saw 35, 40 guys get 200 IP What the heck is going on with this game, before long we are going to see 15 men pitching staffs - don't know how this trend is going to change. Guess they can expand the rosters to 28 or 30, who knows Can Soroka be one of those kind of studs? Gerrit Cole is quite good. Kershaw not as durable as he once was. Price was one of those studs but injuries have slowed him down, Yea, you are right, these guys are dying breeds

So they're consistently average if nothing else. Really, though, that's pretty remarkable. What are the odds?

I liked that. Trevor Bauer is bag full of crazy walnuts, but it's nice to be reminded that all of these guys have family, friends, and teammates that care about them. We really don't think about that and what it's like in reality to live the life as a baseball player. None of us wake up one day and find out we have to take our job skills to a new company in a new city, and that we need to be there ready to go by tomorrow afternoon.
