The fish are a good bit better than the gnats. They have some good pitchers. It'll take a strong effort to win this series.

One player who has been coming around as of late for them is Lewis Brinson who was part of that Christian Yellich deal
He was one of the main center pieces in that deal but had struggled till lately. Decent numbers over 51 games played. Later bloomer maybe? He looks legit for now might be the real thing after all
Go into next yr this could be a team over .500 / Right now they have three decent legit starters whom contenders would love to have
No slouches and we will take them seriously

The Marlins have a lot of good young players. They could be a problem within a couple of years. I'm sure they're going to be up psychologically to playing us, this will probably not be easy.

David O'Brien @dobrienatl Agreed. Can't non-tender or decline option (and pay $3M buyout), then have him go somewhere and hit 30 HR. They know what they get for $7M option (which is a mutual option; he could decline). Solid fielder, 25-30 HR w/ relatively low OBP, great teammate. Equal FA would cost more.
James Watkins @investsense Replying to @dobrienatl Duvall needs to be a part of this team next year as well.

Riley is what baseball is all about, really. It's a hard damned game to master, and it takes consistent effort and as Snit put it, "He's hung with himself". There's been no feeling sorry for himself, nothing but grinding it out, and that's what baseball is.......a grind.

I never doubted Riley because his progress was identical at every level. He would struggle at first each time he stepped up, but then he would figure it out and go berkserker. I know the jump to the big leagues is way more difficult, but I always thought he was going to be a beast. I have to admit he looked terminally lost at times, but in the back of my mind I kept the faith he would become the juggernaut that he is.

Lots of guys would have thrown a tantrum, believing themselves to be above being demoted to AAA after having some the good seasons he had prior to his first stint in Atlanta. But he didn't raise complaint not even the first time. Came back and raked.
