Hitting coach Kevin Seitzer glad he’s back with Braves after painful experience
There have been more agonizing hours this season than in any previous one for Braves hitting coach Kevin Seitzer, who’s endured more pain than he ever experienced in a 12-year playing career. And we’re not even talking about the erratic and frustrating performance of Atlanta hitters. Seitzer had emergency hip replacement surgery May 20, which caused him to miss a weekend homestand and one road trip. He was back in the dugout working 10 days after surgery and went on the next trip June 8-13 to Philadelphia and Miami. On the last day in Miami, when seated outside the video room doing pregame reports, Seitzer’s titanium hip popped out of the socket. A man who had numerous injuries and surgeries as a player felt pain like he had never known before. “Let’s just say I was ready to go meet my maker,” said Seitzer, who was transported to a Miami hospital with a trauma center, where he was put under so the hip could be manipulated back into place. “It was brutal,” he said as he laughed. “It was a bad deal.” He could laugh seven weeks later. But for more than four hours that day in Miami, Seitzer was in so much pain, he did something he’d never done before. “I’ve never yelled in pain,” he said. “If someone has to yell in pain, that’s a 10, OK? When they were trying to get it back in place in the clubhouse — the trainers were there, George (Poulis) was trying to get it back in place — every time they’d move me to try to get it in, was a 10. It hit me. I’ve never yelled in pain in my entire life, never been in this much pain as I was there. “They had to twist my knee in and pull my foot in to take it from a 10 to an eight, just so I wasn’t yelling. Then they had to put me on the board to take me out of the ambulance. theathletic.com/2751109/2021/08/04/hitting-coach-kevin-seitzer-glad-hes-back-with-braves-after-painful-experience/

David O'Brien @dobrienatl #Braves' Freddie Freeman has hit .400 with a a .491 OBP and 1.144 OPS in the past 26 games.
He's 38-for-95 with three doubles, seven homers, 15 RBIs and almost twice as many walks (16) as strikeouts (9) in that span of 124 plate appearances.

I was watching the Mutts broadcast when we played them recently, and they said Freddie had gone something like 185 pitches in a row without a swing and a miss. That's pretty insane.

Had he nor hit into that GIDP, the Braves might have scored 3 or 4 more runs and burned out their run allotment. They have 3 or 4 runs to spare today, thanks to Kevan!

NL East plays the AL West in inter-league next year. I understand the Angels will be making a visit to Truist Park the week after the All Star Game. It will be cool to watch Trout and Ohtani play against the Braves. Sorry for the phantom post...I quoted the wrong post
