You ARE crazy. The only reason his numbers aren't way worse is because he's had a lot balls hit hard right at people. Okay, I AM crazy. The Braves FO might be just as crazy as me on the Will Smith thing. I am okay with it

A very predictable and very meh 5-4 trip for the very average Braves. Cut bait with some of the unnecessary players (I’m looking at you, Panda) and see what prospects we can get for Morton and Smyly. That’s all we need to do between now and tomorrow. Anything else is just wasting time and resources. This team is not going to play over .600 ball and win the division. But, we have a chance to see what some of the kids can do between now and October. That will give AA a chance to better evaluate what we need for 2022 and beyond. Nobody wants some of the unnecessary players like Panda. Guess you can see what you can get for Morton or Smyly but if you get nothing but a bad offer, might as well pass instead of being a farm team for someone else. I have said before, would want to do an extension with Charlie anyway. As for these kids well, we have seen some of what they can do and much of it is bad (Wilson, Wright) but if there is room to work them in and they do better maybe they can be part of the solution. I am all right with moving Smyly but what are you really going to get in return. Probably not some one's top 30 guy. Prefer to let Charlie finish his fine season with us and keep him around

I’m hoping the Dodgers get Kimbrel so they can trade Janson. I’d take Jansen and move Smith to set up role. And have LAD pay most of Jansen’s salary.

I'll say this. I like Joc Pederson. I've always liked him. He has a bit of an edge to him and he's a winner. Exactly what we need. I hope the Braves can keep him. We have the rest of this year to let him play every day. I personally think he'll be fine.

He scares me.....despite having a good year against LHP he has a career OPS of .593 against LHP, I don't think he can be counted on to be more than a platoon player in the long run, and he has shown considerable decline the last two years. His wRC+ was 88 last year and is 95 this year. He had a .680 OPS last year and .725 this year, way down in average, OBP and power. His career wRC+ is 115 so he's way off.
If we're just talking about having a better OFer than Almonte or Heredia or Arcia or Adrianza, he's still better then that type of player but I'd like to do better. I'm not going to say who I'd like to see us sign now in the offseason because I'm tired of saying it.

Call me crazy if you want but Smith has been better than we on this fourm give him credit for Decent save percentage, good WHIP and strike out per 9 ratio No he has not been Mr perfect lockdown, has had some grotesque lost games but overall you really can do worse for a closer. Seems like some of the budget conscious just do not like the money and I get that But look at available relief pitchers this winter - money or not I would take my chances on Smith over much of what will be available - some of those guys who used to be good are injured or ineffective. He made a bad impression last yr when he gave up all those HRS, has given up 4 this yr. But he has been more decent than not. I think the Braves FO likes him better than this forum. You ARE crazy. The only reason his numbers aren't way worse is because he's had a lot balls hit hard right at people. Westie has also been one of the ones who has been very vocal about how bad Smith sucks.

The Dodgers have had so many good players that they pigeonholed him as a platoon guy. He was treated a bit like we treated Camargo. We'll see how it plays out.

I don't think you have a choice when a guy has Ender numbers against LHP.
The funny thing is with his numbers better against LHP this year he only has a .710 OPS against RHP for this season. At any rate, it's a pretty small sample size.

Westie will go complete Tasmanian Devil on Smith.

Westie has also been one of the ones who has been very vocal about how bad Smith sucks. Yes I have been vocal on how bad Smith has sucked. He has had some awful ghastly games that should not have been lost. The HRS he has allowed have been back breakers. But when I took a look at the actual numbers, realized he has only two blown saves and the WHIP, K and BB per 9 etc, he is not as bad as he has seemed. Guess that article that was posted a week or two ago on one of the other treads that defended Smith having a solid season changed my mind. He is frustrating - but as for elevator shaft - looking at pure results to an end of itself - its not as bad as the frustration we as a group has felt as I see it But if you want to call me crazy etc that is all right - I get why Smith is one of the least liked players on this fourm.

As you all know I am not that big of a fan of rush dealing for prospects at the deadline but that return the Cubs got for Rizzo is quite interesting.
They got their 9th and 12th rated picks, the outfielder Kevin Alcantara is only 19 yrs old. Some good tools, might take two or three yrs but could be interesting. And Alexander Vizcaino the pitcher has middle of rotation projection.
That is a return that I would not bitch about if I were a Cubs fan
The Gallo was a bit more quantity but Texas did get 4 top 30 prospects. Maybe one of them becomes a stud and another a useful role player.
Time will tell.

He is not my most disliked player.. I just don't think he has closer stuff.
I've just always been conservative about throwing players down elevator shafts, and you do it at the drop of a hat.
