Looks like rain in Atlanta Thursday a.m. and afternoon. Not good for a 12:20 game time.

David O'Brien @dobrienatl · 3h #Braves catcher Sean Murphy (oblique, IL) has begun walking on the treadmill, Snitker said. That’s a long way from sprinting and hitting, but it’s progress.

Started walking? Walking? It was supposed to be a mild grade oblique strain and he's just now walking on a treadmill? Meanwhile William Contreras is batting damn near .380.. OPSing over 1.000 with an OPS+ of something like 190 I like Alex and he has been a big part of locking up a solid core, but this might go down as his biggest flop deal... and he should still sign Bauer. He loves cheap reclamation project pitchers and there's not a one cheaper and in more need of reclamation than Bauer. After what TB has been through... I imagine he would be the most contrite humble guy out there.

I was perplexfuddled by that statement too.
Bauer has even offered to sign a league minimum contract, hopefully with incentives but I think even without them now, so there's no financial risk.
But being up in our ivory tower, we can't have inferior humans on our team.
All you have to do is pretend you never saw the video or this picture of Marcel Ozuna choking his wife.....and then be able to face the media and claim we are too self righteous to sign someone who has proven he was being blackmailed.

I'll tell you what else really sticks in my craw is our entire staff of nutless media folks are still willing to this day to say we vet players and have higher standards than other teams concerning the character of our players, and not one of them has ever had the sack to ask anybody in management if that's all so then why didn't we cut or trade Ozuna when he had all his troubles? we all assume it was because it was so much money, or his potential to help the team on the field, or both, but make them answer to it, own it, say it out loud. Admit we whored ourselves out and quit claiming moral superiority. But then Snitker would get mad.....boo hoo hoo.....and whoever made them answer those questions wouldn't be allowed in the locker room anymore, or on the team bus or plane, and/or would lose their job. What a crock. How do these folks sleep at night? I'd rather ask real questions and get fired and go to work for the Lake Winnipesaukee Times then be a shill or do what I'm told, write what I'm told, ask what I'm told, and look the other way when I'm told to. Screw that. It takes a shallow person to live that way. The hilarity of it is the whole world sees through it, we got raked over the coals the day Snitker made his snide remark about us not being interested in Bauer and the whole room full of media suck ups laughed.....but the real fans in every baseball forum in the country were yelling "oh yeah, really, what about Ozuna you hypoctires???"

AA sort of addressed that on radio here in Atlanta. His claim was something along the lines of people making mistakes was okay as long as they were contrite . and that what the Braves look for is not perfect people, but players whose personalities mesh well together in the locker room. He then went on to talk glowingly about how well Ozuna is perceived as a teammate, and blah blah.
I don't think the Braves would sign Bauer under any condition, but at this point you have to think Manfred has thrown out an unspoken but widely known edict about the guy as no one else will seemingly touch him either. I think the days of Maverick owners who would buck the Czar's mandates must be long gone.

I think the days of Maverick owners who would buck the Czar's mandates must be long gone. If contrite is the key then we are failing miserably because Bauer has been very humble, forthright and contrite about the whole thing. He’s taken responsibility for not being more careful to avoid ending up in the situation he did, and that he’s learned from it and will be better. And I completely agree, I mentioned a few weeks ago it’s stunning how final it is when baseball blackballs someone. When you’re out, you’re out, period. Bauer has that channel he runs whee he posts videos pretty much every day, and several years ago he had copyright infringement issues with Manfred, and they had other issues. Manfred clearly has had it in for him even before these chicks tried to blackmail Bauer. So undoubtedly Manfred has issued the edict and no owner is going to go against it. Every team in baseball could use Bauer and not one is way long to give a guy a second chance? It will be interesting to see if he ends up suing baseball someday because. MLB has cost him maybe $200M by blackballing him? He had the wherewithal to come up with the proof that the women were after his money, if he can prove collusion in baseball……

Just for the record, I was against the Murphy trade from the start. Contreras is an excellent hitter and appears to be only getting better.

Bad luck for Winans...three unearned runs on three Braves errors.

Winans allows SEVEN runs thru 3. AAA might be a good place for him.
